In 2020, at WS1, we installed a state of the art Pelloby crane to increase efficiency and productivity in SKID fabrication. Prior to the crane installation a telehandler was used to move the skids form one stage of welding to the next, with three stages of welding to complete before the skid was able to progress to final operation; drilling, taping and chequer plating. Each stage took on average 45 minutes, with every stage having to stop to allow the telehandler through the skid area loosing approximately 13 hours production time a week.
To Anord Mardix, this wasn’t engineering excellence. When faced with a problem, we drive the solution.
Through installing the Pelloby crane, all three weld stages no longer need to stop. Each operational weld stage can now move or rotate the SKID in 10 minutes, saving over 12 hours of production time per SKID, driving efficiency and productivity up and enabling WS1 to manufacture four SKIDS per week.
